Vampire hunters drove stake through Milosevic's heart

Serbian dictator Slobodan Milosevic, after several years of horrible war crimes and horrendous dictatorship, was arrested and put on trial before a UN war crimes tribunal for his role in the 1990s break-up of the former Yugoslavia. But on March 11, 2006 he died in prison of a heart attack before he could be sentenced.

He was buried in the front garden of his house in the eastern town of Pozarevac, where, On March 6 2007, Three Serbian vampire hunters, led by Miroslav Milosevic (no relation to the former president) rammed a meter-long Hawthorn stake into the ground and through Milosevic's heart to stop him returning from the dead to haunt the country; the date was important, because according to legend, the anniversary of a man's death is the day he will arise as a vampire.

Miroslav Milosevic later gave himself up to police who have launched an investigation.

Slobodan Milosevic's daughter-in-law Milica Gajic has said she planned to sue the vampire hunters and accused the police of failing to protect the grave properly.

Today, security guards are posted to prevent it happening again.

The spooky part is that they missed his heart; he could be out there now. Somewhere.
